A.M. remained nervous. Closed walls meant pain; closed walls meant she was locked in, with no way to escape. She didn't know if she could stand another minute in this place.
A moment later, there was a crash.

Lillian swore and picked up the small bowl of chicken she'd found, and hurrying back as fast as she could.

A.M. had tossed herself against the window and knocked down a few things. There was no damage to either girl or window, but she was huddled in the corner, looking up in seeming horror, shivering.

"I...I found the chicken..." She stared for minute, before setting it down on the table, right on the end nearest A.M., and took a few steps back to her chair. After a moment's consideration, she sat in front of it, instead of in it. Part of her wanted to move coser and sooth the girl, but she highly doubted she had earned that knd of trust from her. "We're not going to hurt you...we've all been basically raised to put as much good into the world as we can. I can leave the curtains open, but I'd hate for you to jump out the window and cut yourself..."

The girl kept her gaze fixed on the bowl of chicken, staring at it as though it as the most interesting thing in the world.

"You can't go back out there, it's still raining; you'll get sick again." She shook her head. "I don't want you to feel trapped here, but can you at least stay until after breakfast? I'd feel much better if you left with full stomach and a good coat...we can leave you alone, in the meantime, if that's what you want."

A.M. continued to remain silent. If she remained silent, she couldn't say the wrong thing and make anyone angry.

The doctor waited for a long moment, before looking down at her lap. "We're none of us psycholoogists, so when it comes to the right thing to say to make you feel better, we won't be very good; we'll always be honest, though." Slowly, carefully, she got to her feet. "And, if it makes you feel any better, the fact the Blue's aleady given you a nickname is a good sign."

"It means she likes you. She'd like to be friends." The woman remained sitting, but asked, "Can I come check on you? You don't sound too good."

She moved slowly, making sure not to make anything scary. At the girl's side, she checked her heart beat and body temperature, making sure those were alright first

"There...I sish you'd take some deep breaths and calm down a little. But if you're good..." She pulled back.
(I should sleep soon...)

The girl shifted uneasily, not liking any close contact with anyone.
