She shot out of the other portal, over the hole, then the liquid, and skidded on her heels a good six feet before stopping. Eighty Seven grimaced, rubbed her shins, muttering something about shock absorbers, before jogging back to the edge. "Well, the landin's a bit tough to keep your balence on, but it seems fine. Still reccommend climbing, though."

"Ah, I hate climbing. Besides, I have leg braces." With a rather childish cry of delight, Hazel jumped down the hole into the portal and shot out after Eighty Seven.

The robot jumped out of the way, narrowly avoiding having the other girl barrel into her. She frowned slightly, but seemed to shrug it off, hefting the cube and glancing aroud for the next step.

"Hahaha...sorry. I can never help myself. Momentum is just so fun! And my absolute favorite thing to do is this!!" she shot two portals on the ground and jumped in one, popped out of the other, twisted around, fell down again, popped out of the other portal, and repeated the process. "Or, if there's a portal surface on the ceiling, falling constantly is fun." she said as she tumbled. "Oh, you can just put the cube right there on that button."

Eighty Seven sighed around her cigarette, pushing out a large cloud of smoke. She dropped the cube on the button, and watched the door open. She glanced back at her partner, plucking the small tube from her lips and tapping it against her thigh in a mildly irritated manner. Patience was clearly not her strong suit.

In mid-air, Hazel shot another portal on the wall and popped out next to Eighty Seven. "Sorry for my example of childish glee. Sometimes I can't help myself. Let's get going."

"It's alright, I s'pose."
(I think we should plan the next few rooms, so that we know what we're sending them into.)

(that would probably be a good idea...XD) "I suppose that if you're put in grim situations where death is a possibility, you need to stay on your toes but have SOME fun to lighten the mood a bit."

"Well then," she said, smirking playfully, "as a military-grade Aperture Device, I reserve the right to be completely serious at all times."
(Sent you a pm to discuss it.)

(I'll go check it now) Hazel smirked. "Good, now I don't feel bad."

(Since I can't draw it, is it okay if I just describe the chamber as they progress? Portal one place, find out what's there, get a different view, that sort of thing?)
The next room went straight up, perhaps a little more than 100ft. A short ways from the door, it dropped off into a pool of acid, leaving most of the floor inaccessable. There were several evenly spaced recesses in the walls, but from the girls' angle, it was near impossible to tell what each one contained, though a cube dispension tube was visible in the nearest one, a little ways up and over, as well as a couple of mostly clean portal surfaces. Most of the walls were black. Eighty Seven stared for a long moment. "Well, you're gonna need those boots," she finally muttered. A tiny red message flashed across her vision and she bit her tongue, startled. The robot let off a very unladylike curse, dropping her device. "Aaaand there's my batt'ry light again. Urg... didja' see where my cigarette went? I don't have very many." The last bit was said while desperately scanning the floor.

(that's fine) "You've got it caught the hem of your pants. You probably dropped it and it stuck there." Hazel said in reply. "And what do you mean, battery light?" She asked as she tried jumping to see more clearly in any of the other portions of the room.

Though there were more visible portal surfaces, it was clear that most of them would be suicide to try to pass through without momentum, a light bridge, or an excursion funnel.
"I don't know what Aperture's cooked up in the time I've been out, but in my day, if you weren't plugged into a management rail, you ran on a six-month batt'ry," she explained, locating the tube in what was left of the cuff of her pants. She grimaced and began to roll the legs up, hiding the frayed edges. "Really, consid'rin' the condition this place's in, 's a wonder I've got a day of power left in me, let alone..." she stopped, catching herself. What am I doing? This isn't Sixty Three, she's human! They take things like powering down more seriously than...most robots. "...what I've got," Eighty Seven finished lamely. Her pants were rolled to the knee and it was obvious any more would be unnecessary, but she remained doubled over for a second. When she straighened, she was composed again. "Just need to find a chargin' station's all."

(aw, poor Eighty Seven.) "Well, then how much do you have left? I can't have you dropping out on me. It's hard not to go insane in these tests when you're alone." Hazel was balancing on her tip-toes, trying ever still to get a feel of her surroundings.

She bit her lip, rerunning the percent-to-time equation, trying to come up with a larger number. Finally she muttered, "Neh, little less than a hundr'd and seventy four hours? Give or take." Take. About ten hours.
