"Hm." was the only thing Hazel muttered for a long while. Then she said, "Well, I think if we work together we can do it!"

"Ah, right!" There was a split second where Eighty Seven was visually taken aback, but she was pleased for the change of topic. She didn't know why she felt guilty all of a sudden; it was't like she'd exaggerated that much, it wasn't a lie but... The robot took a slow drag on her cigarette to steady herself before turning her attention to the puzzle at hand.

"What do you think is up there?" Hazel was still jumping up and down like an idiot, trying to see what was across/up/beyond her line of sight.

"Goin' on the dispension tube," she responded, gesturing to the nearest alcove, "Buttons." There was a beat of silence, before she added, "And we should prob'bly being port'ling up there..."
(Wishy-washy time is over, the impatience is back with a vengence!) (Also, I just reread the whole thing and realized I have given her the weirdest accent ever. *sigh*)

(haha! Accents FTW) "I'd portal up there if I could SEE ANYTHING UP THERE!!--Oh, there's one!" Blue light erupted from the device and onto the next platform. Looking around, Hazel found another portal surface on their level and shot an orange portal onto it. "Well, onto the next panel we go."

With a sigh, Eighty Seven followed the human through the portal.
From this new vantage point, they can see into the next two alcoves. The closest, across from them and up a ways, was had portal surfaces on the ceiling, but nowhere else, and seemed to be mostly useless. The other, even higher and on the right-hand wall, had metal barrels in it, and no portal surfaces. In their currant location, there is a large button, as well as the cube dispensor and the button to trigger it, made for being pressed by hand, rather than stood on.

Hazel pressed the button and a tube popped out. "If this test is really going to be THIS easy..." she murmured to herself.

The cube was one of the older, wooden ones. The paint was peeling off of it, there were one or two patches of mold, and it looked as though it could fall apart at any second. Eight Seven wrinkled her nose in disgust, and pressed the button herself. The dispension tube made a coughing noise, dropped out some rusted scrap metal, wood chips, and a dead turret, before getting stuck open. There was a faint wirring noise as it died. She looked from it, to the cube, to her partner. "Well, looks like that's the only help we're getting."

"But how's that supposed to get us to the next floor?! It just...fizzed." Hazel squinted at the mess, daring to poke the broken turret with her foot.

"Well," the robot began, lifting the cube with a look of disgust. "we can start by findin' out what this button does." She dropped the box on the larger, floor-based button. One of the corners broke off the cube, but the button went down.
Below them, two panels parted, and a light bridge crossed the gap, mere inches over the acid. It centered on a stained, but just recognisable portal surface.

"That's probably what we're gonna have to use to get to the next floor..." Hazel murmured, stating the obvious. She fired a blue portal at the surface, then climbed onto the bridge and walked into the middle of it to see if she could find any other surfaces.

There were five possible places to move the bridge to: One across from the very top ledge, two set over the corners of the shaft, making them slightly angled. Of those, one was about twenty feet higher than the other. There was also one directly across from the alcove with the barrels, and one about halfway up, across from one of the shafts they couldn't see into.

"Oh, darn these puzzles." Hazel shot another portal at the top portal surface, then passed through the portal on their floor and upward.

The lightbridge now lead straight to the exit door, which was locked tight with the one working light beside it displaying an blue X. Looking down provided a view of only a few inches of the floors of the other alcoves, which wasn't much use.
Far below her, Eighty Seven called, "Well? D'you see anything?"
(Not going to have much internet access this week, so I might take a while to get back to you.)

(that's alright) "Er...not really." Hazel called back. "i see the exit, but it's locked. Let me try a different portal surface..." she walked back through the previous portal and shot at another surface, walking through the new portal to look around.
